I enjoy this story but there something's that the author does not explain well. Adrian a British soldier and Vickie a nurse in the USA army met at the end of world war 2 in charleston, South Carolina. There two children involved and play important in the development of the story. Nate & Cathy small children who resides in an orphanage, Nate father is Adrian who left him because he has to serve at the war. Vickie has to left cathy, her little sister because she went to serve as a nurse in Tunisia. Well I do not wants to give spoilers, but to fairness to the writer I wil try to avoid it. Nate is resentful to his feather because he deserted him. The were witnesses to a crime and the criminal set a fire at the orphanage to kill them but the escape to another time to 19th century. Some actions bring Adrian & Vickie together and the travel to 19th century where find the children. The author does not explain how the couple relashionship evolved, the couple fell in love so fast in 2 days, love at first sight . I left to the readers to find out. Gave your self an opportunity to read Mrs. Riley and you will not be disappointed because Mrs Riley is a master of the genre. I recommend all her books. Enjoy the travel.Product details

Oh I did so enjoy this story so very much. So much emotion and action. So much confusion and mischief. So much wonder and awe. So much love.
A very whacky time travel situation in deed. Captivating and kind of drawn out. But I enjoyed it after all. Good 👍ending
I love time travel stories but this story ranks up to the top. The history entertained with adventure made this a book I didn't want to put down. How a family comes together through difficult hurdles and murderer just grabbed my heart. A love is shown to all mankind allows this story to wrap around the horrors of what has truly taken place in our history. It's a must read for anybody that enjoys action, adventure, time travel and romance! This author has proven her talents.
If you love time travel novels, you can overlook some weaknesses in this one. The love story and love dialogue is a bit too torn-bodice for my taste, and the writing is not the best, but the story is engrossing. Many questions remain unanswered, but isn't that usually the case with time travel stories?
I have always enjoyed traveling through time in Eugenia Riley's books and Embers of Time did not disappoint. When war breaks out and
because Nate's father and Cathy's sister are in the war, the guardian's the children were left with are gone, the children become best friends at the orphanage they find themselves in.
When the war ends, the adventure they all become embroiled in begins.
A can't miss!!
I wanted to like it and it started out good, but I had to skip lots of chapters just to get to the end. It really just dragged on so long I just wanted it to be over. I thought be skipping to the last 5 chapters I would get through it but it was still boring.
This a very convoluted time travel story. The beginning of the story is longer that most time travel books’ setup. I did wonder when the time travel would start. So hang in there. The beginning makes the rest of the story make sense. Vickie is a very strong woman and it shows throughout the book. She never really gives up. You might need a few tissues. Enjoyed the romance and the suspense.
